Tuscany had been on my bucket list for a loooong time, and one day, totally unexpected, things started falling into place…

It began with a Facebook message from my friend Marie Hernandez letting me know she was in town and would I like to connect. Little did I know what new adventures this lunch meeting would bring. When I told Marie about the DeLand coloring book I was working on, she, being a wine lover, immediately suggested creating one about wine. We brainstormed, and the idea for Food & Wine of Tuscany was born.

Fast forward a few months. I was in the middle of preparing for my first public speaking event and finalizing Berlin Divided – Berlin United coloring book when Marie began working on our Tuscany trip.

Marie is a travel blogger and sponsored travel expert. And before I knew it, Marie had organized our entire trip and itinerary. It included adventures such as wine tastings, a cheese tour, cooking classes, and staying in true Tuscan “agriturismi,” farm stays. We explored the Tuscan countryside with various modes of transportation, including horses, Vespas, a vintage Fiat 500, a Tuk-Tuk, and even a hot air balloon!

We spent an amazing three weeks in Tuscany. I am going to share our adventures here in a series of blogs.

Now that the book is published, the original plan was to present the books to our sponsors personally, take some photos and maybe have a Sip’n Color night under the Tuscan sun. Instead, in these unusual circumstances we find ourselves in right now, I am sitting at my desk, listening to Italian music, as I write this blog, as I have for so many hours when creating this book.

Creating Food & Wine of Tuscany has been such a fun, interesting, and rewarding project. I am grateful for the things I have learned, the experiences I had, and the many new friends I made along the way! Experiencing life in Tuscany was a dream come true.

I am looking forward to traveling again and reconnecting with everyone. In the meantime, let’s enjoy traveling on paper, no suitcase necessary, to Explore Food & Wine of Tuscany in our homes. I have found that markers, colored pencils, and watercolor all work well, and even using all of them together in the same image.

To set the mood, you might put some fresh-cut sunflowers on the table and turn on Italian music …

…or uncork a bottle of Italian wine, find a cozy spot to sit back and relax …
…or, when the time is right again, invite some family and friends for a “Sip’n Color Night” around your family table or at your favorite Italian restaurant …

Whatever setting you create, it’ll be just right to enjoy this coloring book.

I hope you will enjoy reading and coloring this book as much as I have enjoyed creating it. May coloring these pages transport you to the wonders of the region as you Explore Food & Wine of Tuscany!

Found in the heart of Italy, there is a land where time stands still.
With its silvery olive groves, fields of sunflowers, vineyards and stone farms, ancient medieval castles, and its enchanting Renaissance cities, Tuscany encompasses all of the many unique qualities of Italy.”
