Palette Talks | Designing Stories in Full Color: Meet Oliver

January 15, 20263 min read

There’s a quiet kind of joy in watching a story unfold in graphic designs. Oliver, our graphic designer, knows this better than most.

Sitting down with him for Palette Talks feels like peeking into a world where each stroke, each hue, carries a heartbeat. His designs aren’t just illustrations. They are little invitations to pause, to linger, to feel the story behind the lines.

For Oliver, inspiration flows from a place that is both personal and universal—faith, curiosity, and a love for storytelling.

Every character he draws, every scene he brings to life, isn’t just about looking good on paper. It’s about capturing emotion, culture, and the details that make a moment feel alive.

To get a closer look at the mind behind the designs, we asked Oliver a few questions about his creative process, inspirations, and favorite things. Here’s a peek into how he sees the world through his art.

How do you find inspiration for your designs?

I find inspiration in my designs by dedicating them to our Lord, who has blessed me with this talent. The stories within each picture I draw ignite my creativity and fill me with joy, giving me a deep sense of satisfaction as I complete each artwork.

What’s one illustration or project you’re most proud of?

The project I’m most proud of is Money Monster.

It has always been my dream to create my own comic book illustration. While the story wasn’t originally mine, bringing the comic to life fulfilled that dream.

This project was one of the most challenging I’ve undertaken because I had to truly understand and convey the emotions of each character in every scene. I also had to carefully consider their expressions, gestures, and backgrounds to ensure everything matched the narrative. Incorporating color added another layer of challenge, but I’m incredibly happy to have completed Book 1 of Money Monster.

How do you approach storytelling through visuals?

I strive to explore and understand the story behind each image, embracing research to find the perfect visuals that will enhance the narrative I aim to create.

What’s your all-time favorite art style or era?

I love comic book drawings like Marvel and DC, and I also enjoy anime.

What’s your go-to snack while designing?

Anything as long as it’s delicious—and it has coffee.

If you could collaborate with any artist (dead or alive), who would it be?

Stan Lee.

It seems that Oliver’s world comes alive on the page he creates. His illustrations invite you to slow down, to notice the little things, and to feel the heartbeat of every scene he creates.

Coloring, drawing, designing are little adventures into culture and creativity, and a way to explore the world without leaving your chair.

Palette Talks reminds us that stories live in every line and every shade. Oliver shows that art is more than something you look at. It’s something you experience, something that teaches patience, attention, and wonder.

And if you’re willing to follow the colors, to linger on the details, every illustration becomes a window into another world, another culture, and maybe even another piece of yourself.
